A Delta Airlines passenger aircraft met with an accident while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada.

The CEO of Pearson Airport, Deborah Flint, confirmed that all passengers and crew members survived the crash. However, 18 passengers have been hospitalized, with emergency services reporting that a child and two adults sustained severe injuries.

The incident occurred on Monday, February 17, at 2:13 PM local time.

Videos circulating on social media show the plane overturned, missing one of its wings, while passengers are seen exiting the aircraft and firefighters are spraying foam on it.

According to Toronto Pearson Airport authorities, the Delta Airlines flight from Minneapolis was carrying 76 passengers and 4 crew members when the accident happened. Following the incident, the airport temporarily suspended operations but resumed flights at 5:00 PM local time.

Ontario’s air ambulance service, Ornge, dispatched three air ambulances and two ground ambulances to the scene. The seriously injured include a child, a 60-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman.

Fire Chief Todd Atkin stated that initial investigations indicated the runway was dry and there were no hazardou s crosswinds, contradicting some earlier reports.

Canadian Transport Minister Anita Anand said she is closely monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada has deployed an investigative team to the site, and two runways will remain closed for several days.

Notably, this is the fourth major aviation accident in North America within the past month. One of the deadliest incidents involved a collision between a passenger plane and a military helicopter near Washington, D.C., which resulted in 67 fatalities.
